Rick Garcia Artist
Rick
Garcia was born in Miami, Florida and studied the curriculum of drawing
and creative painting at the Art Institute of Miami in the early
seventies. His greatest influence was and still is the surrealistic
works of Salvador Dali. During the early eighties, his work was often
seen on the hit TV show, “Miami Vice.” This exposure led to private and
public commissions for use in TV commercials, record album covers,
outdoor murals, and even a private jet. Later he was represented in New
York and California in various well-established exhibition galleries.
Mr. Garcia began the nineties by being selected as the
“Absolut” representative, “Artist of the Nineties”, where two of his
creations went on to become forever famous in world-wide advertisement
campaigns for the popular vodka drink. The recognition of his talent
continued to grow as more galleries carried his work including
commissions for creating artwork for “The United Nations Postal
Administration” and the recording industry’s prestigious, “Grammy
Awards.”
In 1999 he was given the
responsibility to design the entire interior portions of the posh sushi
restaurant on Miami Beach called, “Sushi Doraku” in which he created
and built a 1800 sq.ft. Octopus, custom made light fixtures, sculptured
pieces, unique dining tables, and original art on canvas. At the same
time, “Gibson Custom Guitars” carried (and continue to showcase) his
“one-of-a-kind” hand-painted guitars as unique and stunning works of
functional art.
His vision, versatility and
energy coupled with his insatiable desire to color the world with
beautiful and unique images using various types of materials will
continue to be the underlying force that keeps him moving at the speed
of surrealistic light.
